Will, preparing for Saturday’s Wanganui meeting, turned in a solid workout in company at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Will worked with stablemate Waiata over 1000m in 1:06.9, the last 600 in 37.4 and both horses were striding out well at the finish.
Will was an unlucky second over 1340m at Wanganui two weeks ago and will be stepped up to 1600m this Saturday.
Stylish is another from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable who worked well. She was not pressured when running a solo 800m in 55.6, the last 600 in 40. She is a promising two-year-old by Sword Of State and a half-sister to the well performed Grid Girl. She has performed well in barrier trials and jumpouts and her race debut is eagerly anticipated.
Vincero was another who turned in a good solo workout when running 1000m in 1:12.9, the last 600 in 40.7. He was a last start sixth over 2140m on the Awapuni synthetic track and will start next in a 2100m maiden race at Woodville on June 19.
Popsicles, who could start at Wanganui on Saturday if the track is rain affected, ran a solo 1000m in 1:12.6, the last 600 in 41.5 while stablemate Tulsa King, in his first serious workout since resuming from a spell, ran his last 600m in 45.2.
Trainer Aaron Bidlake said he hopes to kick Tulsa King off again in the Opunake Cup (1400m) at New Plymouth on July 18 and then aim him for the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival.
Ayebeecee turned in one of the quickest last 600m gallops of the morning when clocking 1:07.7 for 1000m, the last 600 in 36.9.
Chime and Autumentem worked in from the 1000m peg at three-quarter pace quacking slightly over the last 600 in 39.4 while Suave clocked 56.7 for an easy 800m, the last 600 in 40.9.
Adera’s Way and an Embellish two-year-old filly ran 800m together in 55.6, the last 600 in 40.3 while a Savabeel-Mohaka two-year-old gelding ended his work with an easy 600m in 44.6.
